Service Status

Mail Service Upgrades
25/06/2002 - 17:27:32
Tonight we will be performing major upgrades on our primary mail server, so a maintenence window of 45 minutes has been scheduled for 11pm tonight (25/06/02).

Update on todays service outage
27/05/2002 - 19:33:31
From 12:57pm until 3:38pm today, our original bandwidth provider who has provided us with an uninterrupted service for the last year removed our routing entries from their core router (for as of yet, unknown reasons). After soliciting with them for the last 2 hours we have finally had the feed turned back on. Our new feed that has been installed this weekend has been active during this time.

Although DNS was updated last night any cached records around would have still resolved to our old IP range, the 213.206.4.x that was cut off. ns2.notnet.co.uk has been answering all lookup queries with the new IP range since last night, however some sites may have appeared down in this time on certain parts of the internet.

One of the primary reasons we have spent the last month moving to our own suite in telehouse datacenter and doing our own BGP peering is to remove any single points of failure from our network such as those which caused problems today. The last phase of the move is happening this week and by the end of the week we will be entirely self-dependant, using 5 other bandwidth backbone providers directly. This will ensure problems such as the one we experienced today will not happen again.

Notnet apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Updates
12/03/2002 - 08:51:20
Email was moved from the old mailserver last night, so email management through the portal will now work properly as it should. A short downtime was experienced late last night as we fixed a potential root exploit in zlib.

DoS Attack
02/03/2002 - 12:23:23
Associated Networks, who are are one of Notnet's main connectivity providers experienced two Denial of Service attacks from 11:38pm last night until 9:23am this morning.
